Conclusions and Prospects. In the past years, much progress has been made toward elucidating the molecular mechanisms of plant responses to cold stress. However, how plants sense cold signals remain unanswered. After the perception of low temperature, plants activate a complex cold acclimation process in CBF-dependent and independent manners.
As plant science becomes increasingly important, we need to attract the brightest and best to careers in plant research. School education does not include the most interesting or relevant aspects of plant science, and discourages young people from studying the subject at university.
